Snapping the snapper

I enjoy, for some unknown reason, when I see people taking images on the street, I have a urge to photograph them.

Its turned into somewhat of a mini project. Its quite surprising to see the amount of Canon DSLR‘s as opposed to Nikon. It does seem that Canon is the more popular brand. Alot of people are also using camera phones. I’m seeing less and less compact cameras.

Anyway, here is a selection of my favourite Photog on the street images. Maybe out there somewhere, is a image of me, taking a image :)

Some Good outdoors blogs

Due to my rekindled love of the outdoors, I have revisited my list of outdoor bloggers, and some of them are real Gems. Here are a few that feature in my Google Reader.

Northern Pies – A truly entertaining read of Mike Knipe’s wanders, along with his ever loyal Bruno. A well written, entertaining light-hearted record of his walks in all conditions. Scroll down past the rather large banner to get the entries, or just subscribe to the RSS feed. Well worth having in your reader of choice.

Northern Walker – Another good read. Focuses slightly more on Gear, but has field reports also. Good factual writing. Another one I religiously read in my Google Reader.

originally started to document his mammoth walk across the length of Britain, Alan Slomans Big Walk is an entertaining read.

Afoot In The Hills – Excellent read. Vocal on his love of the outdoors, and hosts some fantastic images on SmugMug, well worth an hour of your time to read his archives.

There is of course, no excuse for not including Peewiglet here, to do so would be unforgivable. I have lost count of the times I have read her account of her Pennine way route, Weekends in the lakes, and other bits. There is a lot of information on here that stands the test of time. Well worth having within your bookmarks. Shirl, the author, also maintains a Outdoorish blog. Again, worth having in your reader.

And don’t forget the excellent podcasts available from backpackinglight.co.uk (Whom I am expecting a parcel from tomorrow)

And last but by no means least, although not really a blog site per se, but well worth keeping a eye on for the latest outdoor news, http://www.grough.co.uk

I love that site, it has a particularly interesting article on the history of the OS, available, and its really worth a read.

Apologies if I have missed your blog, I have many in my reader, and do read them all. Here is my public page of all posts made in my Google reader that are outdoorsy, feel free to look, and add the feeds. You wont regret reading them :)

Been a while

Been awhile since my last post, but I have a habit of just not being bothered to post at all.

Anyway, I have been sucked back into the world of Eve, and have had a interesting day flying around causing aggro.

First off, a few days back I was out doing one of my fav things in Eve, Scanning. I found a grav site in Wiskeber, So I go and get organised, bring my Miner, and a combat ship to rid the spawn. On the way back, I notice a few probes scattered around the system, someone else was out here probing.

I warped to the site to find a uncloaked Cheetah there, now, as I am in my Helios with no armaments bar one drone I leave it. But I have a feeling that she would come back. So I switch to my Enyo and so a few things on the Market to pass the time. Then I warp to the Grav site, and low and behold I find a Retriever mining the ore. There is also a Hurricane there battling the spawn. I immediately take the retriever out, and considered the Hurricane. I decide not to and leave the site. Nice kill and a good trap.

However, the fun started today. I got bored running missions, and really could not be bothered to go scanning. So I went out looking to cause some grief.

First off, I found Xanzar in a scythe, sitting by a can full of ore. So I flipped it. He immediately locked me and opened fire with standard missiles. I easily avoided those in my fast Dramiel. It was a fast and easy kill.
Next up was Nicky Tyrol. I found him mining away in his retriever. I quickly flipped his can. He warped to station. I waited around as I assumed he was bringing a combat ship. He did’nt. He brought a Mammoth out and took the can while he was aligning to get back to the station. I quickly scrammed him. Opening a convo,

[ 2010.01.01 19:14:37 ] Nicky Tyrol > hai
[ 2010.01.01 19:14:41 ] Me > 15mil or you pop
[ 2010.01.01 19:14:48 ] Nicky Tyrol > ROFL
[ 2010.01.01 19:15:10 ] Nicky Tyrol > nub

I looted the wreck, and popped the cargo just to rub it in. The kill mail shows that he lost about 25 mil, suddenly the 15 mil looks a little better. He should of accepted my offer.

Now 15 faim was in my sights as I moved back to Hek, and switched to my jaguar. I had just finished training Minmatar Frigate 5 and was wanting to try out this ship for awhile. He popped a rat in his Coercer, and I stole the drop. That got him going. He quickly locked and started firing. He did’nt take long to go down.

Next up was another jaguar. This was going to be interesting. I initially left the idea not wanting to lose my shiny new ship just yet. But he suddenly went flashy red, so I took the bait and started on him. I had him well into armour well before he even had me out of shields. Into structure, oh yes, I was going to win this. Then it happend. His armour suddenly went from nothing to full, had he suddenly set his armour reps? No, there is no armour rep that could do that, that quick. Then I saw it. A Onerious. Crap he had remote rep. The most lamest tactic in the entire eve universe, The fight went from enjoyable, down to the nail scrap to insta give up and die. My shiny ship popped. RR is just lame and has no place in a 1 on 1 fight where honour is involved. But there is no Honour in Eve. Ho hum, such is life. I flew to Dodixie and purchased and fitted a new Jaguar. That was a loss of 77mil, but no matter.

I switched back to my Dramiel, and went looking for a final fight. I warped to a belt and a Vexor targetted me. For no reason at all. Vexors are dangerous drone spewing death machines to frigates. However as the pilot was quite new I dropped a can and renamed to coax the Vexor into action. It did’nt work, he ran away. A tristan however did take the bait and the fight started. He put up a good fight, and almost had me to Armour before he popped. I looked at the Kill Mail, and was surprised to find he had the tristan rigged. Why? I have no idea, but it cost him 11 mil.

And that concludes the days events. A enjoyable day in my Dramiel, it proved more than capable that’s for sure and has earned a place in my heart, as has the Jaguar.

I mean honestly, some people are just Stupid. Take this recent post to the BBC

I have noticed that the BBC News 24 label idents (and others) cause a burn on my television. This can ruin a TV, and as such I will not be watching rolling news channels for any lengths of time in future. Is BBC News going to address this?
Monica Hay, London

Honestly, you stupid, thick idiot. What do you expect. Why are you watching BBC news constantly for anyway? They just rotate the same news over and over again. Unless something happens. And then asking the BBC to do something about it.

I cringe when Points of View comes on the tele, honestly some of the complaints on there are just slap worthy. Do you sit reading the Radio Times, and think, oh a program about cocks, I’ll watch that, then I will have something to complain about. If you dont like what you are seeing, Turn over, switch off or do something else. Or get outraged by reading the Daily Mail. Or something. Just keep your bollocks to yourself.

Jesus, enough already.

What a tool..

Just found this blog post, here is a quote:

We will need sign language and small arms fire to protect us from feral locals. I make a note to pack mirrors and strings of wooden beads to trade with. We will be heading to a land where scurvy still kills more people than cancer and where there is no known cure for rickets. In order to eat and secure shelter I may need to offer up a team member for ritual sacrifice.

For a sexually-charged-super-misogynist like me, Harrogate is a barren wilderness devoid of anything shaggable, where flat shoes, reading glasses, halitosis and opaque woolly tights amass on a grand scale. They are the forces of darkness. I must be strong.

He is talking of his HR Conference, here in Harrogate. Did he actually come up, or just making this shite up for attention? I don’t know. But read his blog post, leave a comment, and tell the soft southern gimp that he can stay well south of the M25.

Read it Here

But in all seriousness, it is a sarcastic sahara dry wit site, and actually quite amusing if you read further into the blog. Well worth a mooch round.

Oh well, back to work tonight, not really looking forward to it at all. But it brings the money in.

Found a excellent outdoors Podcast, here that has some excellent interviews, most notably from Chris Townsend from TGO, kit reviews, and everything else you can think of. Well worth a listen if you are into the outdoors.

The website, aside from the podcasts has huge amount of information, all of which is useful and no faff.

Go on, take a look! :)
